Where to stay in Torre del Mar.

Four areas, four kinds of holiday. Here's the short answer, then the detail.

Short answer

First visit, no car: stay in Centro. Sea views and evenings out: Levante seafront. Kids and pools: Poniente. Cheapest with a car: Caleta de Vélez. Under five nights book a hotel; a week or more, book an apartment.

The areas, compared

Levante (east end)

€95–€160 / night

Seafront blocks facing the water, closest to the Faro lighthouse and the busiest stretch of chiringuitos. Loud in August, glorious in May.

Best for: Couples, sea views, evening paseo

Watch out: Front-facing rooms only — the rear views are car parks.

Centro

€80–€140 / night

Walk to the market, the bus stop, the tapas streets and the beach in under eight minutes. The most practical base in town.

Best for: First visits, no car

Watch out: Streets behind Avenida Andalucía get bar noise on weekends.

Poniente (west end)

€75–€130 / night

Wider sand, calmer water, bigger apartment blocks with pools and the two family hotels. Quiet nights.

Best for: Families, longer stays

Watch out: A 15-minute walk from the centre — nice, but plan the shopping run.

Caleta de Vélez / Almayate

€60–€110 / night

Just along the coast — cheaper apartments, a working fishing port and the best value seafood in the Axarquía.

Best for: Car hire, budget, marina dinners

Watch out: You need a car or the M-260 bus for everything.
